While she was studying at UVic she had the opportunity to spend her summers working at a US Naval dental clinic in Naples, Italy and this is where her interest in dentistry was sparked. Following graduation, she worked as a dental receptionist until the dentist she was working for urged her to apply to dental school.

She completed her DMD from the Faculty of Dentistry at UBC in 2006 and then went on to complete a General Practice Residency in Community and Hospital Dentistry in 2007. She is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, the BC Dental Association, the Victoria and District Dental Society, the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Honorary Dental Society, and the Saanich RV Tucker Gold Study Club.
